Food Review: Fong Sheng Hao Taiwanese Sandwich
(located in PLQ mall Basement 2)
We happened to be at PLQ mall that day looking for breakfast and decided to try Fong Sheng Hao. Again, this is a much hyped Taiwanese Sandwich shop that just recently opened. The place is not exactly big with a small dining area with about 40 seats.
The waiting time for sandwich to be done is about 15mins. Frankly it's not easy to get a seat during peak hours like meal time so be prepared to wait. Other than that, the server is friendly and nice and can help to recommend a choice if you cannot make up your mind.
Spicy Pork with Cheese Sandwich Set
Price: $9.60 ($7.30 ala carte)
To the ingredients.
Basically the sandwich is made up of milk bread made in house with fried eggs done scrambled in whole, with melted cheddar cheese, spicy sauce and hand-minced pork patty. The bread is toasted and spread with a thin layer of butter on the bread.
The drink is iced tea with milk (known as red tea with milk in Mandarin).
Now to the taste. The bread is well toasted and made special by its hint of milky flavour. Overall the sandwich is slightly sweet though it's supposedly to be spicy (since I ordered the spicy version).
The sauce is based on spicy bean paste and give a decent heat to the sandwich. The pork patty is well seasoned but a little too thin. Overall it's decent but nothing extraordinary.
The milk tea is slightly strong in tea flavour and mixed with condensed milk and normal milk. Have that milky taste and not too sweet. Again nothing extraordinary.
All in all, it's ok but a little too pricey for the set. Would try something else because of the price.
